Going Vertical with a “Square” Sean Adams Style!

September 28th, 2011 / No Comments »

We were just trolling over at Burning Settlers Cabin, the blog produced by the talented Sean Adams and Noreen Morioka of AdamsMorioka, and stumbled on a write up Sean did about the deck he contributed this year for our event. In true Noreen fashion she asked Sean, “You? You? Why would they ask you? You’re so square.” We love the sarcastic, playful banter between those two, so we thought we’d share his deck he contributed too! We love the typography Mr. Adams! And tell Noreen we’d love to have her do a deck next year too… if she behaves! Ha ha.

Check out the article here and you can bid on the deck online here

Sam Spina as a Munny

Having already supplied us with a superfun board for the auction, Sam Spina has also made us a self-portrait Munny. Enjoy the process pics and also a fun little video!

Anti-Establishment Farm!

September 22nd, 2011 / No Comments »

Using wood-burning, and a little white ink (and text designed by Mikita Westfield), local artist Daniel Crosier has created this board for this year’s Bordo Bello. He has used this same wood-burning technique to illustrate the comic Bartholomew of the Scissors. In addition to illustration, Daniel also works in original performance, music, film and visual art and design.

Getting Our Hands Dirty with Urban Inks

September 22nd, 2011 / No Comments »

Urban Inks is the creative art, design and screen printing studio of artist couple Reed Burgoyne and Sarah Mead. They design and hand screen print everything from gig posters and ‘zines to business cards and invitations—all with a bold, DIY aesthetic (and a color palette to rival Rainbow Brite).

Their work has shown all over the world in both solo and group shows, which they enjoy as a platform to showcase the craft and uniqueness of screen printing. Sarah and Reed also share their passion for the craft through teaching. They live and create art in New York City.

We’ve Got Jungle Fever, and it’s Meg Hunt’s Fault!

September 22nd, 2011 / No Comments »

“In the jungle, the mighty jungle… Oh-wee-ma-whop-oh-wee-ma-whop…”

C’mon, sing it with us– you know you want to! When we asked super talented Portland based illustrator Meg Hunt to participate and do a deck for us we figured she’d turn out something in the realm of awesome, but didn’t think we’d be considering a jungle inspired trek to the summit of Kilimanjaro as a result! We loved her board (titled A Jungle Snack) so much we thought what the heck? Let’s ask her if she’d do a Kidrobot Munny for us and boy did she deliver! Her customized Munny is the perfect pairing with her board (We’ve decided here at Bordo Bello Headquarters to self-name her Munny Tarzan, ha ha). Way to knock it out of the ballpark Meg!

The Savage Samurai

September 20th, 2011 / No Comments »

Local designer (and second time BB artist) Ian Nordeck was so devoted to making a super-duper board that when, on the night before the deadline, he was not happy with the progress of his board, sanded it clean and started completely over. A decision that was possibly bad for his sleep schedule, but definitely good for us. We love the samurai/wrestling mash up and love even more that the Macho Man fits nicely in our theme for the event, the Awesome 80s! And we will kindly take Ian’s compliment that Bordo Bello is “…one hell of an event.” Thanks Ian!
