Donald Ross, better known as D. Ross “scribe,” was born right here in Denver and raised around the world until finally setting up shop in Kansas City, Missouri. In the heart of the Midwest, he made a name for himself with his eye-catching murals. His work features distinct, colorful characters that seem like they could almost be from a children’s storybook….if it weren’t for the graffiti-inspired outlines and sometimes menacing expressions that give them their street-worthy edge. This mashup of styles allows scribe’s art to appeal to all ages. It also makes for some fine vinyl art toys—a medium to which he’s no stranger. With both custom and mass-produced toys, paintings, and street murals under his belt, we’re pretty stoked to see what this talented artist brings to the Bordo Bello medium of choice.
Scribe currently lives with his artist wife Alisa and their two sons in Kansas City. He is the Art Director for multiple locations of Children’s Mercy Hospital around the Kansas City area and continues to exhibit work across the country (and on the walls of his hometown).
